The Free State of Bavaria, the city of Erlangen and Sparkasse Erlangen initiated the planning and realization of the Innovation Center Medical Technology and Pharma (IZMP). The ground-breaking ceremony for the first construction phase took place at the beginning of 2001.
The construction of the Innovation and Start-up Center was financed by the Free State of Bavaria as part of the Bavarian High-Tech Offensive with approx. 10 million euros from privatization revenues.
Due to the great success and the associated high degree of capacity utilization, a second construction phase was planned only a few years after the opening of the IZMP and was realized as early as 2006. Since June 2007, a total of around 5,000 square meters of rental space has been available. In 2011 the IZMP was renamed Medical Valley Center (MVC).
