Bin Picking
Within the context of this project, a test setup for palettizing and depalletizing was developed. Using camera technology, parcels of different sizes are identified, and taken from a pallet by a robot. Realistic scenarios were implemented in which parcels had to be taken from piled heaps. In large logistics centers, this task is still performed manually, as the random arrangement, the position in the space and the difference in parcel size are the biggest obstacles for a reliable AI. Stacking the parcels on a pallet is done in a way that saves space. The order in which the packages are picked up and placed is determined by the actual overall placement.

Parcel Measurement
In this project, an algorithm was developed that provides the dimensions of parcels moving on a belt conveyor in real time. This assignment originated from the requirements of a company in the mail-order industry. Here, scales are partly installed in the belt conveyor or at an additional station. In order to determine the dimensions of a parcel simultaneously, a camera technology was used that can be integrated seamlessly into the workflow without time loss. Depending on the application, closed parcels, open boxes or other shaped objects can be measured.

Smart Mailbox
The Smart Mailbox was created directly for the tenants of the Medical Valley Center. The aim of the project was to enable companies using the MVC premises and/or mailboxes to be informed by e-mail as soon as mail is dropped into their mailbox. In the context of the project a functional prototype that can handle up to 26 mailboxes was realized by using smart sensor and microcontroller technology.

Cleaning Robot
The cleaning robot has been designed particularly for the cleaning of steps and pools the highest competencies from the fields of drive systems, sensor systems and power supply. Special attention has been paid to operations together with other robots, so that allocation of tasks is possible via interactive communication. Additionally to cleaning fluids, UVC-cleaning can also be performed.
